De Beers 40th Anniversary Barbie – $85.000
On her 40th birthday, a jeweler De Beers designed the most expensive Barbie doll of the time. This luxurious Barbie wears a gown that is decorated in 160 diamonds with 18k white gold jewelries.
Barbie and the Diamond Castle promotional Barbie – $95,361
This doll, not created for sale, was first time launched in Mexico City for a new Barbie movie “Barbie and the Diamond Castle” promotion. The doll features a total of 318 diamonds of 20.66 carats, 44 of the stones decorate her luxurious gown while the rest adorn her white gold jewelries.
Canturi Barbie – $540,780
Mattel has engaged internationally celebrated jewelry designer Stefano Canturi to create the most expensive Barbie ever made. The necklace features 3 carats of white diamonds arranged in a Cubist style and surrounding a collectable 1.00ct square emerald (cut) pink diamond from Australia’s Argyle Mine. A ring adorned with another diamond decorates Barbie’s right hand. surrounding a rare pink diamond. The centerpiece is emerald cut and weighs in at 1 carat.

In over 50 years Barbie as made the color pink her personal signature, to be precise her color is PANTONE 219 (PANTONE is an American graphic society which catalogs colors).
The glamorous dress celebrates the Mattel Barbie Pink fashion heritage with a long full skirt made of Pantone color chips in PMS 219C.
Five floors are dedicated each to different theme: that of the dolls, the girls and for women, which includes the BarbieCafe, BarbieSPA and BarbieLounge.
In particular, the plan dedicated to girls, there’s the Barbie Fashion Stage, planned and designed by Chute Gerdeman Retail, where girls take part in a fashion show itself, withlife-size Barbie dress ”human”.
New York-based Slade Architecture has designed the first ever Barbie Flagship for Mattel. The 35,000 square foot store holds the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of Barbie dolls and licensed Barbie products, as well as a range of services and activities for Barbie fans and their families.
Mattel wanted a store where “Barbie is hero”; expressing Barbie as a global lifestyle brand by building on the brand’s historical link to fashion.

Bob Mackie, American fashion designer, is also known for his exclusive dress designs for collector’s edition Barbie dolls.
This doll was the 1st prize of last year’s competition of the Italian Doll Convention.
For the 2012 edition it has been organized an eBay auction with 11 OOAK (one of a kind) Barbie dolls from 11 artists.
The only doll that has been reveled so far is Ninimomo’s Barbie as Mother Nature which follows the main theme of this year convention ‘Goes Green’.

Last year’s theme was the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy so all the Barbie for the contest were wearing green, white and red.
Above the winning doll called “United Dolls of Italy”.
The Italian Doll Convention is an annual appointment held in Milan for fashion dolls lovers and collector from all over the world, who since last year meet up, shop and dress up like their beloved dolls..
The event is structured in 2 days where there are exhibitions, fashion shows, gala dinner, conterst, workshops, stands and much much more.
There is also a part of the convention all dedicated to charity where some unique pieces, usually OOAK Barbie dolls, are auctioned.

Some of the packagings, especially the one for special editions dolls, are really a work of art themselves so that some collector leave their precious Barbie inside the boxes.

The photo book, which is also sold separately for $40, is titled “My Year in Paris With Christian Louboutin” and as a diary resumes the year long collaboration between the designer and Mattel.
Launched in December 2009, it features photos of the doll in different situations in Paris, from Louboutin’s boutique to Muline Rouge, always with Louboutin shoes at her feet.
Christian Louboutin also created a human-sized Barbie pair of pink heels which were the main protagonist of the Barbie Runway Show during the New York Fashion Week in 2009.
In fact every model for every outfit wore the same pair of Louboutin pink shoes.
4 Barbie-sized pairs of shoes accompany each doll, each in their very own Louboutin shoe boxes.
“She needed great shoes, a thinner ankle and, to me, as I’m obsessed with feet, a foot more curved,” the designer said.
